GeoVault — Privacy Policy

Overview

GeoVault is a personal location notebook that stores all data locally on your device. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Data We Collect

Location Data

• GPS coordinates when you choose to use the “Use GPS” feature
• Location names and addresses you manually enter
• Map links you paste into the app

This data is stored exclusively on your device in a local SQLite database. It is never transmitted to our servers because we do not operate any servers.

Google Account Information

• If you choose to enable Google Drive backup, we access your Google email address to display which account is connected
• Backup data is stored in your personal Google Drive in a hidden app-specific folder (appDataFolder) that only GeoVault can access

What We Do NOT Collect

• No analytics or usage tracking
• No advertising identifiers
• No crash reporting to third parties
• No device information beyond what is required for the app to function
• No browsing history or app usage patterns

How Data is Stored

• On-device: All place data (names, coordinates, notes, tags) is stored in a local SQLite database on your device
• Google Drive (optional): If you enable backup, a JSON file containing your places is uploaded to your Google Drive’s hidden app data folder. This folder is only accessible by GeoVault and is not visible in your regular Google Drive

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transfer your data to any third parties. Period.

Google Drive Permissions

GeoVault requests the drive.appdata scope, which only allows access to a hidden, app-specific folder in your Google Drive. GeoVault cannot see, read, or modify any of your other Google Drive files.

Data Deletion

• Delete individual places directly in the app
• Clear all data from Settings
• Uninstalling the app removes all local data
• To remove Google Drive backup data: go to Google Account Settings > Security > Third-party apps > GeoVault > Remove Access

Children’s Privacy

GeoVault does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
